Privacy is the thorn in the side of Facebook’s world domination. Concerns reached a climax this month after Facebook launched their instant personalization features. Whilst Facebook has announced plans to make privacy issues simpler for users, this hasn’t stopped campaigns for a mass exodus on May 31st.
Many of us, with a deeper interest in the ins and outs of social networking, have already taken steps to protect our information, however the vast majority of Facebook’s 400 million users seem unfazed in sharing their sensitive and sometimes embarrassing info.
Youropenbook.org seeks to draw attention to the information Facebook makes public about its users via its search API with hilarious (if not scary) consequences.
By allowing you to search Facebook status updates for any number of embarrassing words, situations and even ailments the site’s creators hope to shame Facebook (and their naive users) into taking action.
At the very least this could be a very useful tool to vet future dates!
