This week in social media news, 2/4/11

Industry Buzz: Foursquare is looking for redemption . . . badge redemption that is. The geo-location superstar has partnered up with the NFL for Super Bowl XLV and will enable users to unlock exclusive badges that provide 20% off NFL merchandise.

Facebook Update: Facebook Credits is now the official currency of the social networking site. Announced this week, the credits will enable group purchasing of virtual goods and a more seamless transaction experience. Great, just another reason to waste more money on Farmville.

Gadget Goodness: NASA’s Robonaut space suit will be making a pre-game Super Bowl appearance.

Viral Video Gold: In preparation for Super Bowl XLV commercials we give you the cutest Darth Vadar ever.

Heard on Antler: The web is inundated with major design blogs, so we have created a collection of 6 design sites that are little less mainstream but equally worthy to follow.

#Fail of the Week: It’s a little too soon to capitalize off of Egypt, but nice try Kenneth Cole. Let the mockery begin!
